QUASAR
We created the brand Quasar, which stems from the astronomical definition— “a massive and extremely remote celestial object emitting exceptionally large amounts of energy and typically having a star-like image in a telescope.” this fitfully aligns with what we hope this car and its interface may offer the consumer—a high power, seemingly futuristic system which will comfortably and intuitively transport them from point A to point b, quickly. Our logo mark is an abstract representation of an image of a quasar and its emission line, these gaseous spouts emanating from the center of the celestial body, which conveniently form the stem of the Q in Quasar.
In a team of six, we worked to research, brainstorm, and then develop our brand, Quasar and then made an extensive, carefully thought-out car user interface to be used by the modern-day consumer easily and efficiently. Our main goal was to take what we learned from our weeks-long research and navigate what specifically was valuable to an everyday driver. With this information, we formulated Quasar, an easy to use, and modern interface for anyone and everyone to navigate.
Quasar was brought to life through a dynamic collaboration between six colleagues, each bringing unique strengths to the table. From initial brainstorming to final implementation, we followed a comprehensive design process that ensured every aspect of the UI/UX experience was thoughtfully considered and rigorously tested. Our journey began with in-depth research, where we analyzed existing car interfaces, identified pain points, and explored how a circular, freeform approach could enhance user interaction. Through branding development, we established Quasar’s visual identity, ensuring that the design aligned with its futuristic and intuitive philosophy.
User testing played a crucial role in our process. We utilized a real car block interface, allowing students to engage with our design in a tangible, hands-on way. Over 6-8 weeks, we conducted multiple rounds of testing, gathering feedback, refining interactions, and optimizing usability. From wireframing and prototyping to real-world testing and iteration, Quasar was crafted with a deep focus on innovation, fluidity, and redefining the driving experience. The result is a seamless, intuitive, and immersive UI that challenges traditional constraints and reimagines how users interact with their vehicles.

BEHIND THE SCENES AND MORE
A key component of Quasar’s development was rigorous user testing, ensuring the interface was not just visually innovative but also highly functional and intuitive. Over 6-8 weeks, we conducted extensive testing and refinement, using real-world feedback to shape a seamless and immersive driving experience. Our goal was to create a UI that felt natural, minimized distractions, and enhanced the way users interacted with their vehicles. To achieve this, we integrated Quasar into a car bot—a physical driving simulation interface designed to replicate real in-car interactions. This tool allowed us to test Quasar in motion, providing valuable insight into how users engaged with the circular interface while "driving." We focused on key factors such as ease of navigation, responsiveness, and distraction levels, ensuring that interactions felt smooth and intuitive. By placing students in real driving scenarios, we could observe their natural behavior and identify areas for improvement.
Through multiple rounds of detailed testing and feedback loops, we refined Quasar based on real user experiences. We adjusted button placements, improved contrast for better visibility, and fine-tuned gestures to create a more fluid experience. Each adjustment was driven by real-time feedback, ensuring the interface was not only aesthetically forward-thinking but also user-friendly and practical. By continuously refining Quasar through hands-on testing, we transformed it from a concept into a fully immersive, driver-centric UI. The result is a bold reimagination of in-car interaction, designed to be intuitive, adaptive, and seamlessly integrated into the driving experience.
